Ok here's the real scoop, depending on a variety of differences between people, some heal faster than others. Knottygirl was instructed to get hers pierced last year over labor day, we are a little more than a month away from the one year anniversary of that event and she still has her starter bars in. Each time we've tried to replace them, with something new, it turned out her piercings were not quite ready yet to be changed out.
Now she does have large lovely nipples, and they have always been sensitive, so there is quite a lot of meat that needed to heal up fully, but a year? Sheesh! Luckily there have been no infections, just slow healing time and many a times where her nipples were so sore that my touch was too much for her to handle.
So to people wondering about having it done, just realize that changing out jewelery a week after you get them pierced is not realistic. 9 months was the initial estimate from our piercer when she had hers done, it's now going on 11. We love them, but the bars can get quite boring and she and I are both keen to change them out for some new shiny fun!
At the start of the month we're off to have them checked again, and hopefully it will be time!

Not sure she can handle more hardware! We're both looking forward to this coming month as I have told her we are getting some new jewelery for those piercings. She's pleased to go shopping! I haven't looked into clit piercings or hood piercings, I've heard they heal far faster than the nipps!

I have been reading a lot of books on the subject with great interest. The scenes described by hypnomaster_d have really spurned my imagination with what can be done with hypno.
Knottygirl is ... hesitant right now about it, so I'm not sure I will be able to do it with her. So I continue to plug away reading about it, storing it into my noggin for the right day and the right time!

I am completely ready for new hardware, but I am not sure if my body is. My nips get so sore sometimes. I am wondering which is better rings or d-rings. I guess I should buy a few different ones and "try" them out. Any suggestions on sites I should be shopping at?

I have to say that a lot of those 'estimated healing times' are waaaaaaaaay off for some of us more slow-to-heal types.
13 months and counting on my labia piercings and they are still too sore to touch etc. They say nipples take longer to heal than labia so I'd hate to think how long my nipples would take.
